L.A. Galbi is a Korean-American dish cut through the rib bone, rather than the butterflied style ribs usually used in traditional Korean Galbi. It's believed that L.A. Galbi was born in Los Angeles where the Korean immigrant community begun using the flanken-style ribs that were easily accessible at Mexican markets.
The short ribs are thinly cut, usually displaying three rib bone eyes. They are thinner, hence easier to marinate and quicker to cook on a BBQ grill. L.A. Galbi's tender, sweet and slightly salty seasoned meat, caramelizes beautifully when grilled.
